Ade Afilaka
I am a HCPC Registered Psychologist based in Central London. My stance is one of acceptance of the human condition, with the aim of enhancing strengths to better manage the inevitable challenges life presents.
I have been working in the National Health Service for the last 20 years, as a Psychotherapist, and Psychologist. This has involved offering treatment in secondary care settings where clients tend to have severe and enduring difficulties, including dissociative experiences, struggles with emotional dysregulation, and Complex Trauma. In addition, I have specialist training, and a wide range of experience of treating addictive behaviours, including alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, and prescription drugs.
I have also worked in private practice with a range of private health care providers for over a decade with more mild to moderate difficulties, including perfectionism, low self-esteem, depressive episodes, and anxiety disorders, such as, OCD, Panic, Social, and Health Anxiety.
These experiences have contributed to a deep understanding of the ways in which individuals can become distressed. I use personal strengths, imagery, meditation, belief restructuring, and latest research based evidence in creative ways to best suit each client.
