Dr Emma L Smith

Chartered Clinical Psychologist

I am a chartered clinical psychologist with extensive experience of working within the NHS and private practice.

Within my private practice, I work with adults, and support individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and physical health difficulties including anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, work-related stress, and relationship challenges. I also work with individuals living with diabetes and other long-term health conditions.

I work with a range of evidence-based psychological therapies, tailoring my interventions to the specific needs and preferences of my clients and to support them to achieve change in their lives. These approaches include intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).

I aim to provide a safe and therapeutic space from which you can feel supported to explore and gain a deeper and shared understanding of your difficulties, and to find new ways to manage distress and work towards your goals.

I am registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualifications and ongoing training.
