Gary Bridges
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience working within a variety of NHS and charity settings. I have expertise in helping people respond to a wide range of life difficulties, as well as in enhancing personal growth and well-being.
My approach is strongly informed by research findings of what works in therapy, which I individualise and tailor for the specific needs and preferences of each unique client I meet. I draw on several models of therapy I am trained and accredited in using, such as:
-
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
-
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
-
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
Regardless of the approach adopted, I view the quality of the therapeutic relationship as being crucial to the success of therapy. I strive to be collaborative and create a safe and caring environment for clients, characterised by empathy, warmth and a non-judgemental attitude to whatever experiences they bring.
